Which Cheese is the Healthiest?
Is Organic Cheese Really the Healthiest?
Rumiano Cheese Company is a family owned company based in California. Started by two immigrant brothers who utilized hand dug cellars to age their cheeses before taking them to market. These brothers quickly drew a large following of connoisseurs who recognized the distinctive taste of their high quality cheese!
I was approached and offered the chance to review Rumiano Cheese Company. While researching the company I noticed Baird Rumiano’s philosophy on their website.
“It all comes down to good people, good ingredients and good products.”
While that may seem like a simple statement, it speaks volumes to what I look for in a company I choose to purchase items from.
What is the Difference Between Organic Cheese and Regular Cheese?
I want quality foods produces with high quality ingredients and no chemicals! Cheese is one of the hardest items to find without a bunch of junk chemicals and additives!
Did you know those “alleged cheese slices” in the bright blue package aren’t really cheese? If you look closely at the package it clearly states in tiny lettering its a pasteurized prepared cheese product. Made mostly from vegetable oil and water and contains no real cheese. Void of the name cheese because its NOT!!
Clear on the other end of the spectrum is Rumiano Cheese. They produce the ONLY certified NON-GMO organic cheese! Only high quality milk containing no growth hormones is used in the cheese making process. The result is wholesome, high quality, great tasting organic cheese!
Rumiano Organic Cheese is available in these varieties:
- Sharp, Medium, & Mild Cheddar
- Monterey & Pepper Jack
- Colby
- Mozzarella

My local Whole Foods carries Rumiano Cheese. I would suggest you check the store locator to find the closest store to you! I was able to find 3 varieties to sample. Its interesting to me to see the true color of cheese without artificial coloring to make look a phony bright orange color. One evening I paired some cheese and crackers for a light snack with a glass of wine. The smooth flavor is delightful!

A little bit of grated mozzarella organic cheese always makes tortellini taste more authentically Italian!

For our holiday meal I made my favorite cheesy potatoes with Rumiano Sharp Cheddar Cheese! I mixed cubed potatoes, a small diced onion, a small diced green pepper, 1 cup cream of chicken soup, 2 cups sour cream, and 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes. The final product is a cheesy bite of heaven. No greasy oils on top. Spoonful after spoonful of all natural organic wholesome cheesy goodness!
