Every trip to the grocery store seems to nudge my grocery budget higher and higher. In an effort to save a little money, I’ve challenged myself to get creative in the kitchen. Last night for dinner I was able to create a homemade pepperoni pizza recipe to feed a family of four for less than $5!
Pepperoni Pizza Recipe Ingredients:
One loaf italian bread – Walmart $1 (grab the next day clearance for $.50)
Classico Fire Roasted Pizza Sauce Reg price $1.64 on clearance $.82
4oz mozzarella cheese – 8oz bag $1.99 only need half = $1.00
Hormel Pepperoni – $1.99
Total Pizza Recipe Cost = $4.31
Price of child labor = FREE!! All kidding aside, my daughter Macy had so much fun making this pizza recipe. My kids are more willing to try something new if they help create the meal.
Pepperoni Pizza Recipe Baking Instructions:
Take the loaf of bread, cut in half. Then cut the loaf in half again for 4 equal slices. Spread on pizza sauce, top with cheese and pepperoni! Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown!
With any homemade pizza, you can customize your toppings. Go vegetarian to save even more money! Mushroom, green peppers, and onion pizza sounds delish! What are your favorite pizza toppings?
