The Shores of Lake Erie Sandusky Ohio
Here at Just Marla, I love to do reviews and offer giveaways of new and exciting products I have discovered! I have decided it’s time to get to know each other a little better. I plan to do a few personal posts about me . There are so many layers to a person and I want to share some of my favorite moments growing up with you. My parents married at an extremely young age. My mom was 16 and my dad was 18. That same year in 1978, I was born in Sandusky, OH. Two years later my parents divorced. I was so little I don’t have any memories of them together….just pictures! Both parents remarried and had kids! I have 2 step-sisters, 2 half-brothers, and a half-sister. Talk about a BIG blended family!
Every weekend as a child I would go to my dad or my grandma’s house(his mom). My back yard at my dad’s house was literally less than 30 feet from the Sandusky Bay & Lake Erie! My dad specialized in automotive repair shop management and when he wasn’t at work you could find him in the garage working on his hot rods. There was always a steady stream of family and friends bringing their cars over for him to fix. As a kid I was amazed at all of the things he knew how to fix on a car! I loved to sit in the garage and “help” him work. Hand him tools, clean grease off parts or turn the key to crank the engine for him. Not the typical fun afternoon for a girl but he taught me ALOT and I loved our time together! When he would finish, we would walk to the back of the yard with our dog’s and see this beautiful view! The dogs would jump in the lake for a quick swim. After swimming, dad would load our family and dogs up in his pick up truck to go get ice cream! He would buy the dogs their own ice cream cone! If you have ever seen a dog try to eat ice cream before… you know its absolutely hilarious! He would drive down by the lake and park so we could watch the boats out on the lake as the sunset. When you live in Sandusky the majority of your fun is centered around swimming, fishing or boating on Lake Erie.
Now that my dad has passed away and I live in Texas. These memories of him and Lake Erie are two things I really cherish and miss! Have you ever seen any of the Great Lakes?
