I was apprehensive to try this method of grilling chicken, but I’m so glad I did! It’s just as easy as cooking in the oven once you get the chicken nestled on top of the can.

How Do You Season Beer Can Chicken?
Generously salt the inside of the chicken. Then on the outside of the chicken, cover the skin with salt. Then, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Rub salt and olive oil into the chicken. Then cover chicken with your favorite dry rub or seasonings. My favorite is a combination of McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon Seasoning & Rufus Teague Meat Rub.
How Long Do You Cook Beer Can Chicken On The Grill?
Heat your grill up on high heat until it reaches 500 degrees. Then shut off all two burners of a five burner grill. Place beer can in the middle of the burners you turned off. Turn remaining burners on low to cook the chicken with indirect heat. Cook your chicken on the grill for 75 minutes or 1 hour and 15 minutes. Always remember to cook chicken until inside meat temperature reaches 165° Fahrenheit. Take care to stabilize the beer can before removing from the chicken. The can and liquid left inside will be extremely hot!
Can You Cook Beer Can Chicken In A Smoker?
Yes, you sure can! Cooking time will be significantly longer. Be sure to plan accordingly. You will also need a pan to catch the tasty drippings while smoking the chicken.
