With construction of Baylor University’s McLane Stadium now complete, I-35 the main vessel through Waco has attracted many new restaurants. The latest addition is Zoës Kitchen. Zoës Kitchen, features fresh, homemade Mediterranean inspired offerings served with a side of southern hospitality!

After my first visit to Zoës Kitchen, I was very impressed. It’s refreshing to find a restaurant in Waco offering healthy dining options. No microwaves, no fryers in the kitchen, just healthy fresh ingredients used to create recipes passed down through Zoë Cassimus’ family, then served to you. Within minutes of entering the restaurant, you feel as if your visiting a family member!
Zoës Kitchen offers a sleek modern decor with plenty of seating for college students, large families, and everyone in between! Staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs during the entire dining experience!
So the location is convenient, the decor is rockin’ but how’s the food? That’s the real question right? Zoës Kitchen is famous for their hummus! I’m not a huge fan of chickpeas so I was leary to be honest. I can honestly say I LOVED the red pepper hummus. It is seriously addicting and I found myself repeatedly going back for more. Basil pepper hummus was amazing as well! The pita bread was warm, fluffy, and delish! The portion was very generious and enough for 2-3 people to share! Hummus Trio is a must at Zoës Kitchen!
The Chicken Salad Sampler gives you a taste of three offerings including slaw, pasta salad, and potato salad over greens with pita bread. The potato salad was very light. I believe the recipe is vinegar based without any mayo. The slaw is light and refreshing with apples and mint. A delightful palate cleanser! I loved the chicken salad. The chicken salad is one of the top offerings available. Max, the manager at the Waco location shared with me that some locations of Zoës Kitchen sell in excess of 80 pounds of chicken salad a WEEK! That is a lot of chicken salad but also proves how tasty it is! The Hummus Trio and Chicken Salad Sampler is plenty of food for 2-3 people to share a little bit of everything Zoës’ offers.
Mediterranean-inspired dishes including shrimp and steak kabobs are a the perfect blend of nutritious and delicious. Shrimp kabobs include shrimp and zucchini seasoned and grilled over rice pilaf served with a greek salad, cucumber raita, and pita bread.
Steak Kabobs features Zoës signature marinated then grilled steak with onions, and red bell peppers served with grilled potatoes and veggies! These kabobs made my mouth water! The steak was tender, juicy and melted in my mouth! The potatoes were absolute perfection.
Zoës Kitchen offers a a menu full of unique Mediterranean options that will keep my family going back for more! Share with me your favorite Mediterranean inspired meal?
