Kids’ TV Network Sprout is rebranding to Universal Kids Network and expanding its audience. The newly named network launches on September 9th, premiering shows DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk, All Hail King Julien, and following up with Top Chef Junior premiering in October.
To celebrate the premiere of Universal Kids Network, Universal Studios Orlando hosted an exclusive launch party after hours in the park. The launch party opened with an exclusive red carpet entrance, where eager and awaiting ‘fans’, holding up signs and cameras, greeted and conversed with the attendees. From there, guests were invited to taste a wide array of delicious foods and drinks, including chocolate-covered bacon, fresh garden salads, egg rolls, mac and cheese bites, tacos, and more. Classic theme park foods including cotton candy and popcorn were also on display. While guests dined on exquisite foods, a live DJ played fun music to complete the night. Guests were invited to play games and dance with the DJ.
After the DJ left the stage, an announcer took the stage and officially kicked off the night. He explained many of the new things coming to the Universal Kids Network. Then he welcomed to the stage a few members of the cast of the new Universal Kids show, The Next Step, to the stage. They performed the opening dance from the upcoming show, then talked about themselves and how they came to join the show. Then they left the stage and went to mingle and chat with guests in the crowd.
The next guests to join the stage were contestants of the Universal Kids Network show, Top Chef JR. Top Chef Junior is about twelve young chefs from around the world, who compete for the title of “Top Chef JR” and prize money to further their culinary dreams. The kids talked about how they got into cooking, what it was like to be on the show, how they felt about the other contestants, and so much more. After this, they explained the dishes they prepared for the guests to sample and taste. The night culminated with a tasting of all four chefs’ dishes.
