I’m going to be brutally honest with you. Since my emergency hysterectomy at the age of thirty, I’ve struggled with weight gain. Each day I start out with the best intentions. My mornings are hectic. Getting out the door on time to deposit the kids at school is almost impossible. Once back home, I make a sensible breakfast. Usually, eggs, fresh fruit and a cup of coffee. Then, I immerse myself in writing. I do a few loads laundry and then am out the door again to run a few errands. My day is gone in the blink of an eye. Time to get the kids from school. The pick up line is never-ending and eats up at least an hour. Then realization hits. I haven’t ate since breakfast. Totally missed out on lunch but it’s to early for dinner.
Hangry and desperate for something to eat fast. Standing in the pantry, grabbing small bites of everything. A couple of miniature candy bars, a handful of cashews, gummy bears, and string cheese! Within a few minutes, I’ve consumed more junk filled, empty calories than lunch and dinner combined. And then guilt sets in….
Changes were necessary to ensure I wasn’t going hours without out food. Hours in-between meals lead to snacking accidents filled with empty calories!
