Healthy habits For healthy kids are instrumental for your child’s overall health, well being, and success as they transition over the years from a baby to a respectable young adult. I’m a firm believer that a health and wellness class should be required before a parent can take home their baby from the hospital. From the day your child is brought into this world, you will be on information overload! The choices you make are imperative!
Is formula or breast feeding best? Cloth or disposable diapers? Even as your children get older, the decisions to guide them along a healthy lifestyle get harder. Should my child be allowed to drink soda? Is fast food for dinner acceptable? While living a healthy existence can seem daunting, I’m here to share a few tips to inspire healthy habits for healthy kids.
3 Healthy Habits For Healthy Kids
1. Everything in Moderation – When you only offer your kids healthy choices, they feel in control and you ensure they select a healthy item. For breakfast, my kids will choose between Stonyfield Greek Yogurt topped with granola or scrabbled eggs with fresh fruit. 2. Good Hygiene – After our first baby was born, I created a bedtime routine. A relaxing bath and teeth cleaning, a massage from mom, and then a bedtime feeding. As my children have grown the routine has changed a bit. They now brush their own teeth and we’ve had to incorporate deodorant as well. 3. Plenty Of Rest – In our over scheduled, fast paced society the pressure is on! The first thing to go by the wayside is a good nights sleep. Eight to ten hours of sleep is essential for the body to rest and recharge. Without critical hours of sleep, the brain is unable to function properly, absorb information and skills, and to make good choices. Establish a bedtime routine and time for your child to go to bed.
