Grand Ole Opry Birthday Celebration | Nashville Girls Getaway
A Nashville girls getaway for a Grand Ole Opry birthday celebration is the perfect recipe for fun for a multigenerational trip. My Gram’s (grandma) 77th birthday is this year, so I wanted to plan a birthday celebration of epic proportion. She went out of her way throughout my life to teach me, encourage me, and show me unconditional love. A Grand Ole Opry birthday celebration is a sweet way to spend the day creating memories in Nashville.
The Grand Ole Opry began as a radio show in 1925. The Opry is radio’s longest running program. For many years now, music lovers have also tuned in at home from all around the world. My early childhood memories include my Gram tapping her toes to the beat while sitting in her chair enjoying The Grand Ole Opry. Now you can listen on Opry’s mobile app, 650 AM WSM, Opry.com, and wsmonline.com. Friday and Saturday night shows are also broadcast on SiriusXM Satellite Radio
For our Nashville girls getaway, it was mandatory to visit The Ryman for Gram’s, Grand Ole Opry birthday celebration! While featuring a mixture of music styles, Grand Ole Opry strives to honor… the honor of country music. The Ryman is the soul of Nashville and the mother church of country music.
Standing in The Ryman, was a special moment with my Gram. I had goosebumps and was filled with joy. It’s an amazing feeling to be immersed in the place where so many amazing artists performed. It’s truly magical to sit in the church pews and envision the excitement an artist feels to perform on the most famous stage around the world. I could have sat in that pew for days, as the performers voice filled up the room and filled up my soul.
Our Grand Ole Opry Birthday Celebration reached a level of epic proportion when surprise guest Trace Adkins, took the stage. You just never know who you might see! Grand Ole Opry features country music’s new stars, superstars, and legends on stage multiple nights per week. After all, it is the show that made country music famous!
Our Grand Ole Opry Birthday Celebration caused us to work up quite an appetite. Lucky for us, Cafe Lula, is a new restaurant located just outside of The Ryman’s main entrance.
This trendy eatery named after the Ryman’s long time manager offers local craft beers and specialty cocktails. Cafe Lula features meat from the rotisserie, Nashville hot chicken & waffle sliders and Cafe Lula’s house made chips. Perfer a salad? Nosh on the cafe salad(shown above) featuring shredded kale, roasted sweet potatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, candied walnuts and dried cranberries with a balsamic vinaigrette! So delicious! Don’t forget dessert…the brownie is divine! Cafe Lula is open from 9:00am to 8:00pm daily with extended hours during events at the Ryman. Happy Hour is from 3:00-5:00pm daily featuring drink and appetizer specials.
I went into our Grand Ole Opry Birthday Celebration thinking it would be truly special for my Gram. After our visit to The Grand Ole Opry, I was beyond impressed and rank this as one of my top travel destinations... EVER! I had no idea how much I would enjoy my time at The Ryman. I can tell you firsthand, visiting should be added to your bucket list, even if you’re not a huge country music fan. The history of The Opry is inspiring.
