George Strait The Cowboy Rides Away
George Strait is more affectionately know as “King George” or the “King of Country”. He announced his final concert – The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in Dallas, Texas. “King George” is an icon in the music industry with 60 number one hits. Many attribute is relatable lyrics, country twang, and cowboy good looks for bringing country music to the forefront. Music, Fortune, and Fame without straying from it’s country roots.
Growing up, I remember traveling back roads in my dads truck with our labrador retriever sitting between us. With the truck windows down, we listened to George Strait on the radio. His voice was so powerful and each song conveyed a message about life. In 2004, when my dad passed we played “Cowboys Like Us” at his funeral. It was if George was singing my dad’s thoughts and depiction of his life in a nutshell. The lyrics represent my dads carefree nature and his love for his steel horse. When Verizon reached out to me to attend the king’s final concert, I literally jumped with joy to be given the opportunity to watch the king’s final performance as the cowboy rides away.
